My studio is located in the heart of Leith area of Edinburgh. That's where I spin, dye with plants and weave my tapestries. There is even a special section for dyeing ( with the hob and drying area ). The plants I use are usually harvested around Edinburgh (Pentlands) or along Water of Leith walkway. I am looking to grow some upcoming year as there is plenty of natural light in the studio.

.

Scottish haldane wheel, my main tool for spinning.

This setup is a little bit unusual in terms of heddles. For the 1st shed I use right pedal for 2nd - heddles attached to the bar. This allows me to weave faster than only using pedals for shedding. At any point if I need I can get rid of them to weave larger passages of simple weave. That's upright Finnish Varpapuu, a little bit modified over the years. It previously belonged to Mr. Alan who is retired scottish weaver and was his main tool for decades, previously it was used as an art therapy tool in mental health hospital.
